NFL unveils ticket refund policy that will take effect if games are canceled or played without fans

Although the NFL is currently planning to play a full regular season schedule in 2020, the league is also prepping for the possibility that multiple games could be played without fans or even canceled, and part of that preparation now includes a uniform ticket refund policy that all teams will have to abide by. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell sent out a memo this week that outlined the policy, which calls for teams to give a full refund to any fans who paid for tickets for any game that might be canceled.

Although that might seem like the obvious thing to do, people around the country have had serious issues getting refunds for multiple things during the Coronavirus pandemic, including concert tickets and airline tickets. According to the memo, which , the refp, which sees the car manufacturer pay an extra €25 million (US$27.8 million) a season through to the end of the 2020/21 campaign, reports, /.With the reworked arrangement, the remainder of the deal would be worth a minimum of €42 million (US$46.und policy reads like this: “All clubs will have in place a policy under which, if a game is canceled, or is played under conditions that prohibit fans from attending, anyone purchasing a ticket directly from the club (i.e., season tickets, group sales and/or partial season plans) will have the option of either receiving a full refund or applying the amount paid toward a future ticket purchase directly from the club.”

With the league’s COVID-19 policy as outlined, not only will fans get a refund if they buy a ticket from the team, but fans who buy tickets on the secondary market could also be in line for a refund. According to the AP, Ticketmaster and SeatGeek have both pro are set to complete the transfer of Wesley Moraes on the first of July.Dean Smith’s side identified Moraes as the striker who would replace the void left by Tammy Abraham, who has gone back to Chelsea. It appears a £22 million deal will now go aheadmised to offer full refunds. On the other hand, StubHub will only be offering refunds where it’s required by state law.

The reason the league sent out the memo this week is that , and once the schedule is out, teams generally start selling tickets almost immediately. By laying out the ticket refund plans now, the league is making sure that NFL fans can buy their tickets with confidence, knowing they can easily get their money back if a game isn’t played.

“In preparing for all elements of the 2020 season, including the schedule release, we have considered the unique circumstances facing us this year, and have been clear that all of our decisions will be guided by medical and public health advice and will comply with government regulations,” Goodell wrote in the memo. “We will be prepared to make necessary adjustments just as we have in other contexts, such as the offseason program and the draft.”

Assuming it doesn’t get postponed, the 2020 NFL season is currently scheduled to kick off on Thursday, S felt he was “scapegoated” at Manchester United.Lukaku left United for Inter this summer in a £75 million deal and believes he was made a scapegoat for the club’s failings under Jose Mourinho. He told ESPN: “Scapegoated. Super Bowl 2020: Watch and stream online, TV channel, latest odds, point spread and more for Chiefs vs. 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs were nodded up after one half of play and both teams now have two quarters remaining to decide the winner of Super Bowl LIV. A victory win will bring to an end a decades-long championship drought. So when you’re watching the two teams play on the field at Hard Rock Stadium, if you feel more of a sense of urgency than usual, that may be why.

It’s clear that the outcome of this game will change the narrative of each franchise for years to come. The Chiefs were in the first ever played way back in January 1967, and went back for Super Bowl IV — their only Super Bowl victory — but they haven’t made it back to the big game in 50 years. On the other side, the 49ers are seeking their sixth Super Bowl title, which would tie the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots for the most all-time, but it would be their first in more than 20 years.

The Chiefs and 49ers took very different playoff paths to reach Super Bowl LIV, with one having to rally from double-digit deficits twice on their way to the big game, and the other dominating its opponents. In the NFC, the 49ers, after defeating the Packers 37-9 in the regular season, faced them a second time in the playoffs, and it appeared they would run away with the game in the first half … but Green Bay’s three second-half touchdowns made it interesting. Ultimately, the 49ers advanced after the Packers comeback fell short.

On the AFC side, the Chiefs did what they do — stop us if you’ve heard this narrative before — after falling behind by two touchdowns againg ice hockey.Chelsea’s technical and performance adviser was the man-of-the-match in Guilford Phoenix’s win over Swindon Swindon Wildcats 2, saving two penalties after the scores finished 2-2 in normal time.”It is kind of a childhood dream to come anst the Tennessee Titans and scored 28 unanswered (before a late Titans touchdown) to secure the win. The Chiefs ultimately won by a score of 35-24; that’s how quickly this offense can score.

Andy Reid will be a head coach in the Super Bowl for the seconor Unai Emery and his Arsenal side, as AS Roma have pulled out of a friendly in the United States. The two European giants were planned to meet in Charlotte, North Carolina as part of the International Champions Cup. However, that no longer looks destd time in his career, and he’s hoping to lead the Chiefs one step further than his Eagles made it at the end of the 2004 season. For Kyle Shanahan, it will be his first Super Bowl as a head coach, after serving as offensive coordinator for the Falcons in the conclusion of the 2016 season. Shanahan’s 49ers and Reid’s Chiefs will battle on Sunday in Super Bowl LIV, and only one will win the Lombardi trophy.

Now that the matchup has been decided, let’s make sure you’re well prepared for whats’s ahead and give you all the info for how to watch the big game that’s right around the corner.

On top of the actual game, what makes the Super Bowl special is the pomp and circumstance that comes with it. Of course, fans will be glued to the TVales youngster is still to make a first team breakthrough at his loan club. But sports chief Oliver Mintzlaff insists it would be the wrong call should Chelsea insist they terminate the season-long loan early in January. He told BILD: “An early return during all the commercials, but there’s also going to be some musical acts as well. Scarnecchia is widely considered to be one of the best offensive line coaches the NFL has to offer. Seahawks’ Doug Baldwin on Thursday football: ‘This s— should be illegal’

is the latest player to voice his contempt for Thursday football.

“This s— should be illegal,” the wide receiver said of Thursday-after-Sunday games, according to Gregg Bell of the Tacoma News Tribune. “It is not OK. It’s not OK. You can quote me on that. This is not OK. … Absolutely, guys do not have enout.Sport1 says Everton and Manchester City are both showing interest in Hoffenheim midfielder Geiger after his impressive performances this season. The defensive midfielder has been impressing in the heart of Hoffenheim’s midfield this season and was ogh time to recover. You can’t recover in four days.”

Baldwin’s remarks came shortly after the Seahawks beat the in a game in which cornerback winter market move for Villarreal attacker Samuel Chukwueze.Foot Mercato says the 20-year-old has been attracting interest across Europe following his fine performances in La Ligfour years ago.He scored 31 times for club and country last season and is on course to beat that tally this term with 18 already to his name.Looking back on how he has changed since his days on Merseyside, Sterling told Sport360: “I think I was a ba, and it is thought that Villarreal would accept a bid of around £34m .

Incidentally, , days before the Seahawks faced the .

“Poopfest. It’s terrible,” Sherman said at the time. “We got home like 1 o’clock in the morning, something like that on Monday and then you’ve got to play again. Congratulations, , you did it again. But they’ve been doing it all season, so I guess we’re the last ones to get the middle finger.”

Not surprisingly, Baldwin, who played this Thursday game with a quad injury, wasn’t alone in his thoughts. Seahawks linebacker said the NFL needs to “.”

“It’s extremely tough, man,” he said, via the News Tribune. “When you watch the game you see those guys dropping down on both sides with serious injuries, minor injuries — you know, we play a very physical sport and to ask us to turn around and be ready after Sunday to turn around and have our body be OK on that Thursday is just really tough for us to do. Hope the league is watching and hopefully they’ll look at it and see what’s happened and change the format.

“If you’re going to give us the Thursday night game … maybe give us a bye week before.”

At the final whistle, the Seahawks were down six starters and three Cardinals players suffered serious injuries.

Cardinals coach Bruce Arians said left tackle D.J. Humphries, safety and tight end left the game with serious injuries and all could be lost for the season.

“It looks right now like D.J. is ACL,” Arians told reporters. “Tyvon is also a knee, don’t know what the severity is. Momah, I think, cracked an ankle. Possibility all of those guys will be on IR.”

Rams-49ers ends in tie thanks to bizarre late-game decisions

You rarely see ties in the NFL, but we got one on Sunday as the and ended their NFC West divisional game all square at 24-24.

A slew of bizarre decisions, late flags, penalties and general football malaise conspired to create the first tie in an game since the infamous Donovan McNabb game between the Eagles and Bengals on Nov. 16, 2008 (when the former Eagles quarterback admitted not knowing ties existed in the NFL).

It was the 18th tie in NFL history since the league instituted overtime in the 1974 season, and the first since the new overtime rules were installed prior to the 2012 season.

The Rams had multiple opportunities to close out the 49ers, but messed up some pretty critical chances. On their opening overtime possessionan boss Antonio Conte is adamant they didn’t deserve defeat at Barcelona.Inter lost their Champions League tie 2-1, despite taking a third minute lead through Lautaro Martinez. Barca eventually winning via a Luis Suarez brace.“Compliments are nice,, hit for an 80-yard catch that would’ve set them up for a field goal at minimum. But an incredibly late flag for illegal formation on St. Louis negated the play and sent the Rams marching back down the field. home to Wolves on Saturday. But Hasenhuttl says: “We had a good meeting yesterday because of Saturday’s game. “A very good first half and in the second we showed in a few moments that we are not 100 per cent on our game plan.“When we don’t defendThey would eventually punt, which led to a 49ers drive and a missed field goal.

On the next possession, the Rams moved down to the 49eplaying in the Championship again next season. The Stoke City goalkeeper is desperate for a return to the top-flight after staying with the Potters following their relegation.Bournemouth, Aston Villa and Sheffield United have all been registered with rs 35-yard line and were set to attempt a 53-yard field goal but — somehow — allowed the play clock to expire and were flagged for delay of game. Making matters worse is the fact that Jeff Fisher was sitting on a timeout when the penalty was called. Zuerlein missed a 58-yard attempt next.

Both teams would get one more possession, with no points being scored and the result a very, very rare tie.

Richard Sherman calls draft ‘a sham,’ Roddy White ‘an easy matchup’

has a chip on his shoulder. We know this because Richard Sherman constantly reminds us. The former Stanford cornerback was taken in the fifth round of the 2011 , and that perceived slight has motivated him to be one of the leagutting their performances. The Toffees have endured a tough start to the season, but Silva has seen enough in training to bee optimistic.Asked by evertontv if the fight for places is intensifying, Silva said: “Yes, definitely, and that will make the die’s best defenders. It also has given him a unique perspective on the draft process.

“That’s all it is, is a sham,” the cornerback said during an appearance on ‘s ATL Debate Club podcast. “The players that are going to be hyped, are going to be hyped. That’s why you have half the first round as busts every year.”

Sherman’s draft-day experiences never affected his confidence. There was the involving back in Week 6, the  involving in the NFC wild-card round, and now, a month after the lost to the in the NFC divisional round, Sherman has weighed in on Atlanta wideout .

During an appearance on ESPN’s Live last week (via ), Sherman called White “an easy matchup. He’ll be another easy matchup next year. This is just fact.”

Sherman expanded upon those thoughts Friday.

“[White’s] strengths are in their system, within their system,” the cornerback . “His strengths aren’t his own.

“‘ strengths are his own. Julio Jones is a dynamic playmaker. It doesn’t matter what scheme he’s playing in, he’s going to play well. If he’s out wide, if he’s in the slot, he’s gBarcelona captain Carles Puyol says they must think carefully about re-signing PSG star Neymar.Neymar is pushing hard to leave PSG – with his preference a return to Barca. But Puyol says: “There is a sports management that has to decide with the coachoing to present problems. Roddy can present problems for certain people, but he’s a product.”

OK, Richard, then how do you explain White’s 47-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter of last month’s playoff game? The one that came with you in coverage?

“During that game, for example, the play where he caught the touchdown, the touchdown wasn’t really on me, to tell the truth,” Sherman said. “But I’m not going to throw a teammate under the bus, because I’m not that kind of player. If that’s what you guys want to say, I’ll take it.”

(‘s Dan Hanzus looked at the tape and confirms Sherman’s assessment of what went wrong on the play.)

Sherman added that the Falcons keep White close to the formation to help him against press coverage. Or as Sherman put it: “The big, bad corners of Seattle.”

Good news: The Seahawks and Falcons will meet in Atlanta next season.

Packers Report Card: Green Bay suffers total collapse in second half

(US Presswire)

It was a tale of two halves in the ’ 30-27 loss to the on Sunday in Indianapolis.

In the first half, all three units — offense, defense and special teams– followed a sound plan and were dominant in building a 21-3 lead.

But in a second half that lacked the right adjustments, the offense sputtered, the defense was trampled and two missed field goals allowed special teams to drive the final nail into the Packers’ coffin.

Here’s how they graded out in the loss that dropped Green Bay to 1-3 in the midst of a three-game road trip.QB came out firing, marshaling three first-half scoring drives and connecting on two touchdown passes, a six-yarder to WR and a 31-yarder to WR . He wasn’t sacked and looked every bit the reigning league MVP. The Packers’ run-pass play-calling was split almost evenly (eight runs, nine passes), with RB Cedric Benson rushing the ball seven times before leaving with an ankle injury early in the second quarter. But in the second half, it was an entirely different, distinctly more ugly story. With Benson out, Green Bay seemed to abandon the run, passing on 30 of the 44 plays after he left the game. The Packers’ first six drives of the second half were, in order: interception, punt, mMonaco midfielder Cesc Fabregas says Eden Hazard was made for Real Madrid.Fabregas played alongside Hazard for five seasons at Chelsea and became close friends with the forward. He told Marca: “Hazard is an incredible player that makes the difference.issed field goal, punt, punt, punt. Rodgers was sacked five times. A late, fourth-quarter touchdown regained the lead, but the two-point conversion was, predictably, a pass play and it failed.

Prior to halftime, the Packers made Colts QB Andrew Luck look like the rookie he is, sacking him four times and allowing just a field goal. In the second half, the defense didn’t match Indianapolis’ nergy, and the Colts scored on all three of their third-quarter drives, cuttinid Luiz to Arsenal.Lampard, who left Derby County for Stamford Bridge in the summer, decided to let Luiz move to Arsenal on deadline day.And Cole believes that decision has proven to be a good one.He said: “Allowing David Luiz to move on was a massivg the Packers’ lead to 21-19. They didn’t get to Luck once in the second half, as he passed for 362 yards, 212 of which went to WR Reggie Wayne, who was unstoppable. The fact that a rookie QB — even one as highly touted as Luck — and a 12-year veteran receiver so thoroughly and effortlessly tore apart the Packers pass defense in the second half is a code-red indication that theity with League One Fleetwood and has been receiving rave reviews for his performances. The 21-year-old Australia international has helped Fleetwood into promotion contention and also earned him individual recognition as the English Football League’s unit may not be any better than it was last season, when it allowed the most passing yards in history.

The coverage and return units were strong. didn’t allow the Colts a single kick return, blasting his kickoffs deep into or out of the end zone. P was sterling, as usual, landing four of his seven punts inside the 20, and hammering one 58 yards when the Packers were backed up at their own 12-yard line. Cobb, the dynamic returner, secured everything that came his way and gave Green Bay good field position, especially on kick returns (31.7 average). Those units all did their jobs. This grade is what it is because Crosby missed his only two field goal attempts, including a not-even-close 51-yarder with three seconds remaining that would have tied the game. He’s not the only one to blame for the loss but he’s certainly the goat.

The plan was good. The Packers came out and scored 21 first-half points, while dominating the Colts on defense. But when Benson got hurt and Indianapolis began its inspired comeback, the Packers had no answers. The contrast between the first and second halves was so stark, one wonders what the locker room speech must have been at halftime. The Packers were the picture of obstinate futility, stubbornly refusing to run the ball despite clear evidence that what they were doing wasn’t working after Benson went down. The coaches should make better and quicker adjustments to what’s happening on the field. Coach Mike McCarthy’s play-calling will be the subject of much debate because, seriously, why would you protect an 18-point halftime lead by passing twice as often as you run it? And defensive coordinator Dom Capers must explain what was so overpowering about Luck-to-Wayne that he couldn’t scheme a way to stop it.

Saints coach Joe Vitt says defensive overhaul unnecessary

(US Presswire)

Even though the gave up an -record 7,042 yards this season, interim coach and linebackers coach Joe Vitt said Monday the defense did not need a major overhaul.

The numbers did not tell the whole story, he insisted, adding that most of the damage was done in the first six weeks. (The Saints actually gave up a season-high-tying 530 yards to Denver in game No. 7 before the defense improved significantly in the next 10 games.)

“All you want to do as a coach is get your players and your unit better on a weekly basis,” Vitt said. “When you can do that and you see the improvement, I think that’s the positive. Extreme makeover, I don’t know about that. I really don’t. But that’he Leicester Mercury says Leicester see Shaw as a long-term replacement for Ben Chilwell.Chilwell, 23, has become one of the country’s best defenders during reclic of Ireland. The veteran attacker has enjoyed a great season in the Premier League. The 33-year-old is in great form, and Ireland boss Mick McCarthy says he is impressed with what he has seen.Long could be in the next squad McCarthy aims.He told repent seasons at the King Power, and has been heavily linked with a move to Frank Lampard’s s why we’re in the evaluation process now. We’ll make sure that we’re putting the right players in the right positions to make plays.”

Vitt pointed out the Saints shut out Tampa Bay in Week 15. He said the defense played very well against Dallas in Week 16 until allowing two long passes in the final four minutes of regulation.

The slip-up Sunday against the Panthers, who gained a season-high 530 yards in their 44-38 win against New Orleans, did not cloud Vitt’s view of the uptick.

He singled out cornerbacks and , linebackers and and defensive end Cam Jordan for praise.

“h future this summer. The former Liverpool winger is set to become a free agent in the summer of 2020.Discussing Ibe’s future, Howe told the Daily Echo: “He’s a player that we’ll sit down and talk to during the summer. Although a very young player, JoThere are some guys that really have a good foundation to build off of what they did this season,” Vitt said. “Once these guys got engrained in the system, terminology, alignments, checks, all of those things, people here saw an improvement on a weekly basis.”

The Saints finished 7-9, matching their worst record in seven years under QB . After losing their first four games, they climbed back to 5-5 but promptly lost three in a row to fall out of realistic playoff contention.

Was it a one-year aberration or a sign of a decline? Vitt chose the former.

“Absolutely,” he said. “That’s why we wake up every morning and come to work here. The standards are high, the goals are high and the expectancy level is high. There is not a player or a coach or anybody that works in our building that is going to sleep easy tonight on 7-9. It’s a great motivational tool for the offseason.”
